Marc Poritz
visual media artist · vfx supervisor · filmmaker
Creating images has been the common thread throughout my professional life.
For more than 30 years, I have worked in film, television, advertising and visual media – from traditional animation and camera work to visual effects, 3D, compositing, filmmaking and modern digital production.
My work combines creative thinking, visual imagination and technical understanding. I enjoy developing visual ideas, solving complex production problems and finding practical ways to turn an idea into a convincing image or moving sequence.
A Broad Skill Set
My professional work has always extended beyond a single discipline.
In addition to film and visual effects, I have experience in graphic design, illustration, architecture and interior-related design, sound and music, electronics, IT hardware and software, as well as practical construction and workshop work.
I have hands-on experience across many different trades, with particular strengths in electronics, construction and painting.
This broad practical knowledge is useful in production because visual problems often require solutions that go beyond a single software package or specialized discipline.

my approach
I see visual production as a combination of imagination, observation, technology and storytelling.
A good result does not come from technology alone. It requires an understanding of light, perspective, movement, materials, space, time and human perception.
This is where my background and personal strengths play an important role. I have a strong ability to visualize spaces and processes mentally and to imagine how objects, people, light and movement interact over time.
I also have a highly developed visual memory and can recall images, compositions and details in a photographic and cinematic way.
Combined with my experience in VFX, film production and 3D, these abilities help me to plan visual sequences before they are created and to recognize what is needed to make an image feel convincing.
from analog to ai
The tools have changed dramatically during my career.
I started working with traditional film, animation, optical and mechanical techniques, cameras, film editing and early computer graphics.
Over the decades, production evolved through digital compositing, 3D animation, nonlinear editing, digital cinematography, real-time technologies and increasingly sophisticated visual effects workflows.
Today, AI-assisted production adds another major set of tools for image, video and audio creation.
I see these technologies as an extension of the creative toolbox – not as a replacement for visual thinking, filmmaking experience or artistic judgment.
The technology changes. The ability to see, imagine and create remains.

See. Imagine. Create.
After more than three decades in visual media, my motivation remains the same:
to turn ideas into images and images into experiences.
Whether created with a camera, through VFX and 3D, or with the help of new AI-assisted technologies – the goal is always to create something that works visually, tells a story and feels right.
